Ingredient: Basil

Basil is a basic ingredient, and not found right away in Chefville. As you progress in game you'll find a three part quest chain titled, "The Land Down Over". In part three of the quest chain, you'll be required to expand your restaurant into the "Vineyard Gateway". Once you've done that you'll have access to the two basil plants found in this newly expanded area.

Basil Plant

Harvesting your basil plant will yield you one basil, and you can harvest your plant again after thirty minutes. You can also harvest the basil plants in your neighbors restaurants, for a chance to score another basil.

Basil itself is only directly used in two recipes: Margherita Pizza, and Coq Au Vin.
Basil is also used in the food processor along with Garlic and Salt, to create Pesto. Pesto can then be used in five recipes. So even though initially Basil doesn't seem to be of much use, you can use it to craft another ingredient that is quite useful.

Crafted Ingredient: Tomato Sauce

The ingredient Tomato Sauce, is what is referred to as a "Crafted Ingredient". You can't find it lying around (at least not at first), you can't pick it or grow it, you have to make (or craft) it. Crafting tomato sauce requires a Mixer, which becomes available after completing part two of the quest chain: Standards of Italian Cuisine.

Crafting tomato sauce requires you to click on the mixer. You'll then select the tomato sauce from your options at the bottom, just as if you were cooking a dish on the grill. The tomato sauce requires five tomatoes, and four wild onions per sauce. After clicking start, the mixer goes to work, and you'll have to wait five minutes before you can collect your sauce.

Down the road there will be another quest allowing you to unlock a second mixer, but for now one is all you need. You may find yourself needing more friends to accomplish the goal, and get your mixer. You can list yourself on our Add Me page to list your name, if you are needing more Chefville friends.

Tomato Sauce is used in quite a few dishes including; Pommes Frites, Mozzarella Sticks, Chicken Parmesan, Moussaka, Chicken Enchilada, Classic Tomato Soup, Creamy Cheese Lasagna, Meatball Sandwich, Calzone, Beef Canneloni, Margherita Pizza, Spaghetti Bolognese, and Veggie Flatbread.

Additionally a Tomato Sauce Rack has been released, allowing you to collect tomato sauce without needing to make it. You can collect it from the rack every 15 minutes.

You can also harvest at your neighbors sauce rack for a chance to collect more tomato sauce.

Brick Oven

The Brick Oven is the first cooking station you purchase after starting the game. You purchase it during the quest chain "Inspired Italian".

The Brick Oven has three levels of Recipes you can cook and serve to your guests, Basic, Intermediate, and Expert.
