Ingredient: Salt
Salt is an ingredient that is used constantly in Chefville. It is one of the easiest and hardest ingredients to acquire. All you have to do is visit your neighbors, complete your five actions for the day, and poof, you get a salt. Sounds easy right? What if you need 4 more salts for that next star, and you only have 3 neighbors left you haven't visited today? More Neighbors are needed then (Post on the Add Me! page, or my Facebook page to get more.)...and that's part of where the chore comes in. You sometimes end up needing SO much salt that its easy to fall asleep while clicking the next neighbor, five clicks, accept, next neighbor, five clicks, accept, next neighbor, five clicks....you see what I mean?
Salt is used in at least 18 different recipes. Its also used in at least 16 crafting recipes, which you can then use those parts to create at least 57 other dishes. Salt is one of the most needed ingredients in ChefVille, but you can only stack up twenty of them at a time. So if you have a day with a lot of free time, don't waste it just gathering up salt.

Ingredient: Mixed Greens!
The ingredient Mixed Greens can be found right away when you start playing Chefville.
When you first open your new restaurant you won't see mixed greens anywhere on your map, however you can go shopping in the Marketplace. Clicking on the icon to take you to the market place, you're going to want to browse down to the Supplies tab. Then look through the pages until you start seeing plants. Mousing over the various plants you'll see something like, "Harvest this Potted Sunflower for Mixed Greens!" So if you buy yourself a Potted Sunflower, you'll be able to harvest yourself some mixed greens from it.
![]() |
| Some of the plants that produce Mixed Greens |
You can harvest from your plant once every 10 minutes to receive one mixed green. You can buy as many plants as you'd like, or need, and harvest each one every 10 minutes, giving you a nearly limitless supply of greens. Unlike most ingredients you are unable to harvest your neighbors plants to try and get greens.

- Classic Tomato Soup
- Garden Salad
- Greens and Sauteed Mushrooms
- House Salad

Basil itself is only directly used in two recipes: Margherita Pizza, and Coq Au Vin.
Basil is also used in the food processor along with Garlic and Salt, to create Pesto. Pesto can then be used in five recipes. So even though initially Basil doesn't seem to be of much use, you can use it to craft another ingredient that is quite useful.

Ingredient: Apple
Apples are not really available right away ChefVille. There are a couple of trees that will be found as you expand, and after that you have to buy the Apple Tree from the marketplace. Each time you harvest from the tree you'll receive one apple. It then takes eight hours before you can harvest again.
You can only harvest from your apple tree (or have it harvested by neighbors) about eight times before the tree is bare, and disappears. Then you'll need to buy a new tree to replace it. You can only own one apple tree at a time, making collecting apples a very time consuming process.

Crafted Ingredient: Tomato Sauce
The ingredient Tomato Sauce, is what is referred to as a "Crafted Ingredient". You can't find it lying around (at least not at first), you can't pick it or grow it, you have to make (or craft) it. Crafting tomato sauce requires a Mixer, which becomes available after completing part two of the quest chain: Standards of Italian Cuisine.
Crafting tomato sauce requires you to click on the mixer. You'll then select the tomato sauce from your options at the bottom, just as if you were cooking a dish on the grill. The tomato sauce requires five tomatoes, and four wild onions per sauce. After clicking start, the mixer goes to work, and you'll have to wait five minutes before you can collect your sauce.
Down the road there will be another quest allowing you to unlock a second mixer, but for now one is all you need. You may find yourself needing more friends to accomplish the goal, and get your mixer. You can list yourself on our Add Me page to list your name, if you are needing more Chefville friends.
Tomato Sauce is used in quite a few dishes including; Pommes Frites, Mozzarella Sticks, Chicken Parmesan, Moussaka, Chicken Enchilada, Classic Tomato Soup, Creamy Cheese Lasagna, Meatball Sandwich, Calzone, Beef Canneloni, Margherita Pizza, Spaghetti Bolognese, and Veggie Flatbread.
Additionally a Tomato Sauce Rack has been released, allowing you to collect tomato sauce without needing to make it. You can collect it from the rack every 15 minutes.
You can also harvest at your neighbors sauce rack for a chance to collect more tomato sauce.
