Veggie Kebab

The Veggie Kebab is one of the very first dishes you can cook when you start playing Chefville. You use the grill that you start out the game with, and it requires only a couple of ingredients; two tomatoes and two wild mushrooms.

After gathering the required ingredients, click on your grill, and then select Veggie Kebab from the list of possible menu items. Then click start. After clicking start you'll see some food laid out on your grill, and above the grill is floating the things needed to make this recipe. The first ingredient will be bouncing up and down impatiently, click it. Then click the rest of the items in order. You're chef will run right over and start running through the steps to make your dish!

Veggie Kebabs are ready in only 30 seconds, so don't run off! When done you'll here a "ding ding" chime, and your dish's icon will be floating over the grill. Click it to have your chef take the dish and set it on the counter.

Once you've placed the dish on the counter your customers can start ordering it, and your waiter will take over from there. You can then go off to another task, or make more! If you make more of the same item, your chef will stack them up together so that you'll have more servings in one stack.

As you serve a recipe more and more you get better at making the dish, and you are awarded stars for each dish. At the three star level the Veggie Kebab has 30 servings and will net you 90 coins (3 coins per serving).

For some of the dishes, Zynga has given us the recipe that inspired the in game dish. If you feel like making some Veggie Kebab's at home, check out the recipe!

Real Recipe: Veggie Kebabs

Veggie Kebabs
Zynga Executive Chef
Matthew DuTrumble
INGREDIENTS (serves 10)
1 pounds (450 g) wild mushrooms
1 medium-sized heirloom tomatoes
1 large zucchini
1/2 large Vidalia onion
1 large bell peppers
1 medium-sized squash
1/2 cup (120 milliliters) balsamic vinegar
1/2 cup (170 grams) honey or agave
1/2 small bunch Fresh Basil
10 bamboo skewers
DIRECTIONS
  1. Soak the skewers for 45 minutes in water. This will prevent them from burning when grilled.
  2. Cut vegetables into uniform bite sizes pieces and line them up on the skewers. Arrange vegetables to keep like colors separate. Think rainbows! Keep in mind this can be eaten by hand and doesn’t need a knife and fork.
  3. To make the veggie glaze, combine the balsamic vinegar and honey (or agave) and simmer for 10 minutes.
  4. Let the glaze cool down to room temperature. The glaze will become thicker as it cools down but should still be pourable like honey.
  5. While the glaze is still warm, tear up the basil to release its flavor and add it to the glaze.
  6. Grill the kebabs on a grill pre-heated to 400-450°F (205 - 230°C). The goal is to get some grilled flavor and color on a couple sides. This should take under a minute on each side
  7. Once the kebabs look good, plate them and spoon the veggie glaze over the top of the skewer. The veggie glaze will run down and coat the rest of the kebab naturally. Make sure you get plenty of that great basil on there from the glaze.

Wild Button Mushroom

The Wild Button Mushrooms, or "Wild Mushroom", starts out growing naturally in your yard. I haven't seen yet if they'll come back if you dig them all up, but you can buy a new starter plant from the Marketplace.

They are used in a number of recipes including the Wild Mushroom Salad, and the Veggie Kebab.

When growing in the wild, new plants will sprout daily. Each new sprout contains three mushrooms, and you have to use up three energy to get all three, as you pick the mushrooms one at a time. Wild Mushrooms can also be picked in your neighbors yards.

If you are needing to purchase some more Wild Mushroom plants for your yard, they will cost you 30 hearts per plant.

Tomato

Tomato's are harvested from tomato plants, and can be harvested every two minutes. Currently tomato plants can not be purchased from the marketplace. You start Chefville with two tomato plants, make the most of them!

They are used in making Bruschetta, Veggie Kebab, and Tomato Sauce.

After picking the tomato off the plant (or vine), the plant will then become unripe, and if you mouse over the plant, you'll see the timer counting down until the plant is ripe again.

After ripening, you'll see a nice ripe tomato plant, and you can click the plant to receive one tomato, and one XP. It costs you one energy each time you harvest a plant.

You can also harvest your neighbor's tomato plants for a chance at a tomato. So if you find yourself running low, visit your neighbors!

Currently, you can also send a tomato to your neighbors as a "free gift". So if you get in a bind, send your neighbors some tomatoes, and you can receive some in return!
