Rainbow Roll

Creating the Rainbow Roll is no easy feat, and yet you are required to complete three of the dishes in the timed quest chain: Become the Master.

After placing and unlocking your Sushi Master Station, you will find that you now have several new dishes that you can create. The Rainbow Roll is the furthest to the right. Select the Rainbow Roll and click Start to get one cooking.

Currently this is a difficult dish to complete, since Tuna is very hard to come by currently. In order to complete the Rainbow Roll you are going to need:

  • 3x Tuna
  • 2x Sushi Roll
  • 3x Salmon

It also takes twelve hours to complete each one. This is just the type of thing I've been saving those Instant Thymes for, and I hope you have too!

Sushi Master Station

Trying something a little different today. I made a video for the Sushi Master Station, and put it up on Youtube. The video highlights how to unlock the station, and what you have available once it is unlocked. I will probably do similar videos to this in the future, this is the first one, and I might still have some bugs to work out. Please leave me some feedback here, or on Youtube.

Thanks!

County Fair!

Howdy Partners!

Have you heard the news? The county fair has come to town! Hot Dogs, Corn Dogs, Chili Dogs, and all kinds of other fair found dogness can be found!

Seriously though, there are several new quests, a few new pieces of equipment, and fifteen new recipes to be had with this fun little update. Not to mention some added decorative items!

So spend some time, and dig in.

Instead of getting "mastery stars" for these recipes, you'll be acquiring County Fair Ribbons! As you collect more and more ribbons, you'll earn awards.

A County Fair Hotdog Sign, 5 One-Hour Thymes (probably the best reward), and the County Fair Carousel. Each new recipe can receive 3 ribbons, and you only need thirty ribbons to get the carousel, so with fifteen recipes times three ribbons...you should be able to get there, no problem!

All the new county fair decorations are limited time, so if you see anything you really want, grab it while its there!

Now I'm horrible with names, but that Aussie looking fella is who shows up to tell you about the fair. He'll give you your Hot Dog Cart, and a Mustard Dispenser.

You will need quite a bit of mustard, so harvest that little machine every time it pops up. Personally, I think it takes forever to get all the mustard...so a I ask all my friends for mustard. It is FAR easier. If you need more friends, post your info over on the Add Me page.

There is also a meat grinder that you'll need to use to make some of these items. You'll have to purchase this item. Head to the Market, then look under Kitchen, then Crafting Staions. It will only set you back 500 coins, and you're going to need it.

You'll also need some help from your friends getting everything all set up. The meat grinder will allow you to make ground beef, and spicy ground beef. What would a hot dog stand be without a chili dog?

You will go through a ton of beef (You did upgrade your mom & pop butcher shop right?), tomatoes, dough, and all kinds of other toppers. The quests are pretty straight forward, so you shouldn't get lost along the way. Have fun at the fair! As always, please leave comments, click like, follow us on Facebook, Google +, etc...

Crafted Ingredient: Tomato Sauce

The ingredient Tomato Sauce, is what is referred to as a "Crafted Ingredient". You can't find it lying around (at least not at first), you can't pick it or grow it, you have to make (or craft) it. Crafting tomato sauce requires a Mixer, which becomes available after completing part two of the quest chain: Standards of Italian Cuisine.

Crafting tomato sauce requires you to click on the mixer. You'll then select the tomato sauce from your options at the bottom, just as if you were cooking a dish on the grill. The tomato sauce requires five tomatoes, and four wild onions per sauce. After clicking start, the mixer goes to work, and you'll have to wait five minutes before you can collect your sauce.

Down the road there will be another quest allowing you to unlock a second mixer, but for now one is all you need. You may find yourself needing more friends to accomplish the goal, and get your mixer. You can list yourself on our Add Me page to list your name, if you are needing more Chefville friends.

Tomato Sauce is used in quite a few dishes including; Pommes Frites, Mozzarella Sticks, Chicken Parmesan, Moussaka, Chicken Enchilada, Classic Tomato Soup, Creamy Cheese Lasagna, Meatball Sandwich, Calzone, Beef Canneloni, Margherita Pizza, Spaghetti Bolognese, and Veggie Flatbread.

Additionally a Tomato Sauce Rack has been released, allowing you to collect tomato sauce without needing to make it. You can collect it from the rack every 15 minutes.

You can also harvest at your neighbors sauce rack for a chance to collect more tomato sauce.

Romance Pond

As you start unlocking more areas in Chefville you'll eventually come across an area containing the "Romance Pond".

The red ribbon is around the pond because it is initially locked. Get a few friends to help out, and you'll have it open in no time.

The pond is movable, even while it is locked, so if you have some decorating plans, feel free to move that pond out of your way.

Once unlocked you'll be able to fish in the pond. The pond contains Salmon. After fishing, you won't be able to catch any more salmon for 60 minutes.

You can always go and fish in your neighbors pond though, for another chance to get some salmon.

If you're looking for the Giant Salmon, Giant Tuna, or Salmon Roe, then you'll want to check out the Moon Pond! That's where you'll find those ingredients.

Veggie Kebab

The Veggie Kebab is one of the very first dishes you can cook when you start playing Chefville. You use the grill that you start out the game with, and it requires only a couple of ingredients; two tomatoes and two wild mushrooms.

After gathering the required ingredients, click on your grill, and then select Veggie Kebab from the list of possible menu items. Then click start. After clicking start you'll see some food laid out on your grill, and above the grill is floating the things needed to make this recipe. The first ingredient will be bouncing up and down impatiently, click it. Then click the rest of the items in order. You're chef will run right over and start running through the steps to make your dish!

Veggie Kebabs are ready in only 30 seconds, so don't run off! When done you'll here a "ding ding" chime, and your dish's icon will be floating over the grill. Click it to have your chef take the dish and set it on the counter.

Once you've placed the dish on the counter your customers can start ordering it, and your waiter will take over from there. You can then go off to another task, or make more! If you make more of the same item, your chef will stack them up together so that you'll have more servings in one stack.

As you serve a recipe more and more you get better at making the dish, and you are awarded stars for each dish. At the three star level the Veggie Kebab has 30 servings and will net you 90 coins (3 coins per serving).

For some of the dishes, Zynga has given us the recipe that inspired the in game dish. If you feel like making some Veggie Kebab's at home, check out the recipe!

Real Recipe: Veggie Kebabs

Veggie Kebabs
Zynga Executive Chef
Matthew DuTrumble
INGREDIENTS (serves 10)
1 pounds (450 g) wild mushrooms
1 medium-sized heirloom tomatoes
1 large zucchini
1/2 large Vidalia onion
1 large bell peppers
1 medium-sized squash
1/2 cup (120 milliliters) balsamic vinegar
1/2 cup (170 grams) honey or agave
1/2 small bunch Fresh Basil
10 bamboo skewers
DIRECTIONS
  1. Soak the skewers for 45 minutes in water. This will prevent them from burning when grilled.
  2. Cut vegetables into uniform bite sizes pieces and line them up on the skewers. Arrange vegetables to keep like colors separate. Think rainbows! Keep in mind this can be eaten by hand and doesn’t need a knife and fork.
  3. To make the veggie glaze, combine the balsamic vinegar and honey (or agave) and simmer for 10 minutes.
  4. Let the glaze cool down to room temperature. The glaze will become thicker as it cools down but should still be pourable like honey.
  5. While the glaze is still warm, tear up the basil to release its flavor and add it to the glaze.
  6. Grill the kebabs on a grill pre-heated to 400-450°F (205 - 230°C). The goal is to get some grilled flavor and color on a couple sides. This should take under a minute on each side
  7. Once the kebabs look good, plate them and spoon the veggie glaze over the top of the skewer. The veggie glaze will run down and coat the rest of the kebab naturally. Make sure you get plenty of that great basil on there from the glaze.

Wild Onion

The Wild Onion, starts out growing naturally in your yard. I haven't seen yet if they'll come back if you dig them all up, but you can buy a new starter plant from the Marketplace.

Onions are used in a number of recipes including; Tomato Sauce, Ranch Dressing, Philly Cheesesteak, Grilled Steak Panini, Wild Onion Bisque, Chilly Gazpacho, Southern Dumplin, and Foccaccia.

Wild Onion Plants
When growing in the wild, new plants will sprout daily. Each new sprout contains up to three onions, and you have to use up one energy to dig up each single onion, as you pick the onions one at a time.

Wild Onions can also be harvested in your neighbors yards, so if you find yourself running low check out your neighbors! Don't forget that you can also eat dishes that your neighbors are serving. Each dish gives you the possibility of a certain ingredient, mouse over the dish to see what you have a chance of getting from that dish.

With onions being in such high demand, you'll probably run out quickly if you don't make sure to leave some plants to grow back. Then you'll wan to purchase some more Wild Onion plants for your yard. They are available in the marketplace, and will cost you 30 hearts per plant.
