Real Recipe: Chicken Cobb Salad

Chicken Cobb Salad
Zynga Executive Chef
Matthew DuTrumble
INGREDIENTS (serves 4)
8 ounces (230 grams) boneless, skinless free-range chicken breast
2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil
1 ounce (28 grams) chopped garlic
pinch salt
pinch black pepper
3 hearts romaine lettuce chopped
2 lemons juiced
2 ripe avocados, halved and scooped from skins with a spoon, then 1 inch (2.5 centimeter) diced
2 vine ripe tomatoes, seeded and 1 inch diced
1 red onion, chopped
2 cups (270 grams) blue cheese crumbled
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
pinch salt
pinch black pepper
DIRECTIONS
  1. Heat a grill pan or nonstick skillet over medium high heat. Coat chicken breasts with 2 teaspoons oil, chopped garlic, salt and pepper. Grill or pan-fry chicken 6 to 7 minutes on each side. Look for some browning. Remove from heat and let rest for 5 minutes.
  2. In a small pot, cover eggs with cold water and bring water to a boil. Once it comes to a boil, cover the pot and turn off the heat. After the 10 minutes, cool eggs under cold running water. Peel and chop.
  3. Brown chopped bacon in a skillet over medium high heat. Drain bacon on paper towels.
  4. Chop 3 hearts of romaine lettuce and place in a large serving platter or salad bowl. Dress chopped lettuce with the juice of 1 1/2 lemons. Drizzle the remaining 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil over lettuce. Season greens with salt and pepper, to taste.
  5. Toss diced avocados with juice of remaining 1/2 lemon, to prevent browning.
  6. Halve chicken breasts and chop the meat.
  7. To serve, arrange rows of chopped chicken, chopped hard boiled egg, crisp bacon bits, diced avocado, diced tomato, chopped red onion and crumbled blue cheese on top of either 4 individual portions of dressed romaine or 1 large serving platter.

Ingredient: Chicken

The ingredient Free Range Chicken, is not found when you first start playing Chefville. During the quest chain Pluck Ingredients (Free Range Love pt. 3 of 3) you expand to the Poultry Bazaar.

Getting the poultry bazaar up and running takes a few staff members. Time to call on your friends, or its possibly time to get some friends (visit our Add Me page to list your name, if you're needing more Chefville friends).

Once you've got your poultry bazaar open, you can start collecting chicken from it. You can collect one chicken every five minutes. You can also harvest your neighbors bazaar, for a chance to get chicken.

Chicken is used in about twenty-two dishes, and a couple of crafted ingredient recipes including; Chicken Cobb Salad, Chicken Lettuce Wrap, Chicken Broth, Pot Stickers, Buffalo Bat Wings, Buffalo Wings, Chicken Enchiladas, Chicken Fajitas, Chicken Marsala, Chicken Mole, Chicken Parmesan,  Chicken Pot Pie, Chicken Quesadilla, Chicken Salad Sandwichi, Chicken Tenders, Chicken Teriyaki, Chimichanga, Coq Au Vin, Fettucin Chicken Alfredo, Divine Chicken Divine, Sweet and Sour Chicken, and Tangy Orange Chicken.

You can also harvest at your neighbors bazaar for a chance to collect more chicken. And don't forget you can eat dishes that your neighbors have prepared that use chicken, and you may receive an ingredient also.

*UPDATED*

There is now an upgrade for your Poultry Bazaar. The upgraded bazaar allows you to harvest two chickens at a time. So now you'll be able to get two chickens every five minutes.

Lettuce

The ingredient Romaine Lettuce is not found right away when you start playing Chefville.

As you progress through the game you'll get the quest called "Farmer's Market" from the hippy looking girl. Completing the quest will allow you unlock the ability to purchase an expansion. The expansion is to the left of where your restaurant started, and you'll see a couple of stalls (Broccoli and Romaine Lettuce), and a pile of wrapped boxes.

One of the newly opened stalls is your Romaine Lettuce Stall, allowing you to now start harvesting Romaine Lettuce. Click the stall to get your lettuce. The romaine lettuce can be harvested every five minutes. The wrapped boxes will contain your Garlic Stall, where you can get garlic.

Romaine Lettuce is used in a number of dishes including; Wild Mushroom Salad, Ceaser Salad, Springtime Spring Roll, Chicken Cobb Salad, Chicken Lettuce Wrap, House Salad.

You can also harvest at your neighbors stall for a chance to collect more romaine lettuce.
